What is biomass energy and what is biomass power plant. Today we will review these matters. Gas is obtained by digesting agricultural wastes, forest sector organic wastes, animal wastes (slaughterhouse wastes, feces, etc.) or city wastewater in an oxygen-free environment. This gas, which is obtained by living (biological) sources such as various aquatic plants, is called Biogas. This energy type is called biomass. Briefly, the energy obtained from organic materials in various ways is biomass energy.
The oldest known raw material of this energy, which is mostly used for heating; firewood, charcoal and animal manure. In addition to this type of biomass energy obtained by the classical burning process, other processes are also carried out. Energy is obtained from agricultural products, urban wastes, agricultural industry wastes. Burning process is carried out using different techniques.
Advantages and disadvantages of biomass energy
Biomass energy has a great potential among alternative energy sources and is a resource that can provide continuous energy, not discrete like wind and sun. The fact that biomass energy is easily stored provides an advantage over other renewable energy sources. Biomass is a domestic resource, increasing local production and employment. Thus, it prevents migration from rural areas to cities. It does not cause an increase in CO2 in the atmosphere.
Biomass releases as much carbon as carbon dioxide from the atmosphere if it burns. Therefore, it is a fuel that does not contribute to the greenhouse effect theoretically in case of renewal of forest and plant assets.
